At It Again - Print Mixing

sweater: old navy, shorts: thrifted, sandals: payless

"Mommy, Fix my Transformer!"

There is a Transformer in my hand! ;)

Look at me. I am at it again. This print mixing thing can get addictive. ;) Actually my red sandals just happen to be python print and I am wearing a stripe sweater. It kind of happened by accident. ;) Isn't it fun to be trendy by accident? Of course, you could walk into McDonald's like I did yesterday and see a lady wearing multi colored striped shorts and a geometric print top (from the eighties - and not in a good way)  and remember that print mixing can be done wrong. So wrong, people. ;) I am pretty sure the idea is not to look like you got dressed in the dark. ;)

So, the little dude and I woke up sick this morning. Ick. I want to stay in bed and sleep all day when I am sick. Unfortunately my little darling who is normally a sweet, mostly well behaved, reasonably calm child turns into a mean, loud, hyper little terror. Yikes. So, we are in for a rough couple of days. Hopefully we will be feeling better soon and I can get all the stuff accomplished that I need to. ;)  (And why is it that the cold medicine that makes me comatose turns him into a bouncing off the walls crazy kid???)

Hope y'all are feeling lovely and well. Happy Wednesday. ;) If I get around to it, I'll be linking up with The Pleated Poppy, Transatlantic Blonde and Rae Gun Wear.

Coral and Mint - Again

This is what I wore for our back to school shopping day on Saturday. One of my fave dresses with some easy comfy sandals and a pretty necklace. ;)  Easy, comfy, cool.

You guys! Fifty followers! (This is me jumping up and down for joy!) Y'all are awesome and I love you and you made my day! ;) Now. I promised back a couple of weeks ago that I was planning a giveaway for when I reached 50 followers. So. That is indeed in the works. I am super excited about both that and something else related that I am working on. Indeed both today's outfit and yesterday's outfit have something in common. ;) Hint, hint. Guesses, anybody? So stick around and hopefully we'll be ready for the big reveal on Friday!

OOTD: Mommy and Me!

So, friends this isn't one of my fave outfits, but yesterday was one of those days that called for super appropriate, understated first impression making clothing. Classic, modest with just a tiny touch of me in my statement necklace. ;) We'll pray that the impression made was good and leave it at that for now.

On to other fun things. We did school shopping for the first time this weekend. Wow. I don't know where the time went, but my little dude will be starting pre-school in a few weeks. He was rather bummed because, although we found a Transformers backpack, there were no other Transformer school supplies to be found. You guys, my kiddo has a serious love affair with Transformers. He takes one with him every where he goes. He sleeps with one. He want to look at them every time we go to the store. He owns at least 20 of them. He insisted upon a Transformers birthday party. He LOVES the movies and tv shows. No joke, y'all he adores Transformers. ;) So, he was kind of bummed. However upon discovering these red shoes at Target, his spirits revived. (Yes, he is indeed my child! ;)) The first words out of his mouth this morning were, 'can I wear my new red shoes' ! So, clearly we had to do an outfit shot of him in his red shoes. ;) He also found it necessary to jump into one of the pics at the last minute. I promise I am not choking him! It just looks that way. :)

Hope y'all had a wonderful weekend. I was super busy. Hopefully I'll be able to reveal the results of all that busy-ness soon!

Inspiration Monday on Friday (oops!)

So, clearly I am just a little behind this week! ;) This was the inspiration photo for Inspiration Monday over at Two Birds and while it is obviously not Monday, it was what inspired this outfit! ;)

Wow, so clearly these pants (which are a very pale lime green) do not look great on me. Yikes. They are either going to have to be cut off in to shorts or slimmed into skinnies. (Be sure and let me know which you think would be cutest in the comments!) Wide leg capris just don't work on curvy petite bodies! I promise I am not nearly as huge as I look in these pics. I did however love the color combination of the tomato red with the pale lime and the awesome green accessories (Thanks again, Bethie!). And I love the feel of this wide, cropped tee from Cato, but I am thinking next time I will do it with a high waisted pencil skirt or skinny jeans. What do you think?

On another completely awesome and exciting note - welcome to my new followers! You guys rock my world and I am so excited to have you along for the ride. ;) For those of y'all who have been here for a while, you too are totally awesome. You also may remember that I have been promising a giveaway once I reach 50 followers and I am only two away. So, I am working on something fun and exciting for next week! I hope you'll stick around to find out what!

Hope y'all have a wonderful weekend! We will be shopping for school supplies for my little dude who will be starting pre-school in the fall (Holy What! When did that happen?).

Thrifty Thursday - Glasses

Happy Thursday, friends.  For those of y'all who are new followers, the sunnies I wear in most of my posts are prescription sunnies. I am pretty much blind as bat without my glasses. And I have icky eye allergies which makes wearing contacts pretty much impossible. So, I thought I would do a little post on my glasses. Be sure and let me know what you think!

This is me about three years ago wearing a pair of glasses purchased at an eye doctor's office for around $200. I'm pretty sure they were purchased in 2005. Very much on trend at the time. I loved these glasses and they lasted for several years.

Up next were my first ever online glasses purchase from Zenni Optical. I was tired of the dark frames so I picked something a little lighter overall. They are pink. ;) I think I paid around $15 for them and was pretty pleased overall. However having a little boy who is exuberantly affectionate can be a little hazardous on glasses and the frames which are pretty delicate, broke. ;(

Up next, I ordered a pair for $5.95 (special price) from Best Price Glasses. They worked, but weren't my favorites looks-wise. Just a pretty basic pair of glasses. Also, they are too big for my face. ;)

Last fall I placed an order for four new pairs of glasses from Zenni. I needed a new pair as the ones above loosened so much that the frames wouldn't stay on my face. I also wanted a pair of the bigger trendier styles. I got a basic slim dark frame pair similar to the ones in the top pic. I've worn them just few times. I also ordered a light green pair similar to the pink ones above, but I don't have pics of those. :)

I also ordered my second pair of sunnies (any of their glasses can be made sunnies for an extra $4.95). You've seen a lot of them on the blog recently. ;) They are leopard print acrylic aviators and I love them.

And finally here is me in my current faves. I seriously love these glasses way more than I thought I would and pretty much wear them all the time even though I have two other pairs. My entire order was about $40.00 including shipping. Seriously. Forty bucks for four pairs of glasses.

And finally, when fall comes around again I will be ordering one of these pretty pairs! What do you think? Cat's eyes or Wayfarers? I would love to have your opinion!

Even if you prefer to get your glasses from other sources, Zenni is totally worth checking out for prescription sunnies on the cheap!

A few quick notes: you will need your PD on your prescription so be sure to remind your eye doctor when you request your prescription. Also be sure of your measurements, once you get them, they're yours. No return policy based on fit.

What about you? Have you ever ordered glasses online? What was your experience like? Would you order glasses online?

Also, this post could be a pictorial of how I grow my hair out! ;) What do you think, bangs or no bangs?

Print Mixing Light

Y'all I am so not into the print mixing trend. This is as close as it gets for me. And I am actually wearing four printed items - a striped top, a floral scarf, python sandals and floral earrings. Earrings and scarf and in shades of bright pink and the python and stripes are black and white. Simple and coordinated. I actually felt pretty good about the way this turned out. My main trouble with mixing prints is that I own very few prints aside from stripes. I just like solids better. Now I love printed shoes and accessories, but clothing-wise I own some stripes and maybe three floral dresses. I think that's about it. And honestly, I don't have any desire to go snap up any more printed items. I like my solids. They always go together, are rarely dated and suit my style. So. This will probably be the extent of my print mixing. And it only happened for Marionberry Style's Trend of the Month. ;)

(A big thank you to Megan from Frugalista Diaries for the scalloped denim diy idea!)

Are you into the print-mixing trend?

Bauble Swap!

Today I am showing off some new baubles from Bethie the Boo! We participated in the Bauble Swap and sent each other some pretty little goodies. Bethie sent me a really lovely necklace, bracelet and ring in a shade of green that I don't already have. Yippie. ;) I love them, they are so fresh and fun. And new jewelry is always a reason for celebration in my book! ;)

As you can see, my little dude decided to participate in today's photo session. :) I am not entirely certain what he is doing, but he is clearly having fun whatever it is. My guess would be that he is being a super hero. ;)

I am also getting in a little minor print mixing in practice for Wednesday's Trend of the Month link-up. Stripes and snakeprint count as print mixing, right?!

Happy Monday, pretty ladies!
