Shredded Day 3

tee & pants: thrifted, sandals: ?

Summer comfort at it's best: loose tee, loose pants, and flat sandals. Add a bunch of rings and bracelets and giant dangly earrings and you're done. I love this shade of pink, sort of a smokey salmon color, and I love comfort so this outfit is definitely a win.

I am on day 3 of my 30 day shred and while still sore, I am beginning to feel a little less like someone used me as a punching bag. My endurance during the workout itself is still pretty pitiful which boggles my mind. Hopefully this means I'll actually see some results. I am not a big believer in all the advertising claims of workout videos. They usually involve super restrictive meal plans which just doesn't work for me. This one does say you can lose up to 20 pounds in 30 days. I'll believe it when I see it. Of course, I should lose some weight anyway since I am doing weight watchers and have gotten back on track.

Have you ever seen good results from a workout program?

Necklace Re-Design and Polka Dots

Remember this necklace? Love the color, love the shape and size of the beads, love the price ($4 on clearance), but it was terribly uncomfortable and just not quite what I wanted design wise. So, I re-made it.

What do you think? Obviously inspired by an anthro necklace. I really like the way it turned out. I have worn it at least four or five times, but this is the first time I've been able to capture it on film.

jacket and dress: rue 21, sandals: ross

I bought this dress shortly before I got pregnant and ended up wearing it and another just like it in pink my entire pregnancy. In fact I was wearing the pink one the day I went to the hospital to have my Munchkin. It is extremely soft, stretchy (obviously), and comfy. Perhaps a little juvenile, but I like it anyway.

I am now on day 2 of my 30 day shred and I HURT!!! Just so you know. I really thought I was in relatively decent shape. Apparently not. I will, however endure. Hopefully. I'll let you know how that goes tomorrow.

If you have kiddos, what were you wearing when you went to the hospital/went into labor?

No Pain, No Gain, but ouchie, my friends, ouchie

jacket: goodys (I think), dress: jcpenney, belt: walmart, shoes: cato

Here is what I wore today. I like this dress okay, but the fifties silhouette isn't one of my faves, even though it is ideal for my body type (hourglass), so I toughened it up with chain jewelry and black accessories. What do you think?

As to my title, I have been a bad girl this week and have gained back two pounds. This seriously makes me unhappy. Also, I am getting bored with my exercise routine and will not even be able to go the gym for half of this month because the hubby will be out of town. So, I decided to try out Jillian's 30 day Shred. Twenty minutes of pure torture my friends. Seriously. My legs currently have the consistency of cooked noodles. I'm telling you, this had darn well better be worth it because if it isn't, I am not going to be a happy camper. I am really not looking forward to waking up in the morning. I just know it's gonna hurt even more.

Hope y'all had an awesome weekend. I am thoroughly worn out, but in a good way. Next week is another busy one and then my wonderful beloved is leaving. Boohoo.

Stay cool, y'all. (Unless you live in the pacific northwest, in which case, stay warm?)

Weekly Gratitude

tank: target, pants & shoes: thrifted

Let me begin by saying that I know that this outfit isn't particularly flattering. Yes, I should have belted the waist, or worn skinnier pants, or short shorts, but I didn't. To be honest, I was cool and comfortable while performing all of my party planner/motherhood/hostess sorts of tasks. So, there. Even in all it's unflattering glory, my cousin (whom I haven't seen in almost a year) noticed and commented on my weight loss immediately. So, there, again. Sometimes comfort trumps flattery.

So, today was the big day - Munchkin's third birthday party. He had a great day and really enjoyed playing with his friends, eating his cookie cake, blowing out the candles, and opening his presents, (not necessarily listed in order of importance!) Mommy and Daddy are thoroughly worn out and even Munchkin went to bed early and crashed immediately.

This week I am grateful for:

~  Real friends. This is one of those times in your life when you know who they are. We'll just leave it at that 'kay.
~ Cookie Cakes - I cannot begin to express how excited my little guy was about his cookie cake. I even went all out and got it in his favorite sprinkle covered sugar instead of chocolate chip - oddly enough, Munchkin doesn't really like chocolate chip cookies. He was in cookie heaven. It was the first thing he showed everyone as soon as they walked in the door. "Come see my cookie cake!"
~ Family. My cousin came and brought her little ones. Even though we only live about an hour and half apart we just don't see each other all that often. We have always been pretty close even though we are polar opposites in pretty much every way. Funny how that works, huh.
~ MP3 music downloads - long story short - the song I was going to sing tomorrow was sung by someone else a couple of weeks ago and I just found out about it tonight. Thankfully I found another song online, cause there aren't any bookstores open after 10:30 around here. Actually, nothing is open after 10:30 around here cause our town is itty bitty and everything closes down by nine.
~ My hubby who is awesome and wonderful and incredible and funny and handy. I love him. He is the awesomest daddy ever in the whole wide universe!
~ Birthday presents. Once upon a time, the receiving of the birthday presents was the coolest thing in the world. However with the advent my little one, giving is at least a million times better. We haven't actually given him his present from us yet because it isn't ready. We got him a sandbox and I can't wait to see his reaction. He has been talking about sandboxes incessantly for the last week.
~ Books. Specifically good books. I have read several this week that I really enjoyed. I finished off the Storm series by Sharon Sala which was awesome and heart-wrenching at the same time, then read the middle book in her latest series - very intense, plus the two 'Wicked' books by Lisa Jackson/Nancy Bush. It has been a good week book-wise.
I could probably keep going, but I am ready to sleep. So, night y'all!

FBFF: Vacation Packing

dress: rue 21, shoes: crocs

scarf as a necklace
This is what I wore today to run a million errands related to my Munchkin's birthday party tomorrow. Let me just tell you, my friends, it is hot! We were planning on having the party outside, but it is supposed to be above 98 degrees tomorrow. So, we will be partying it up inside in the a/c.

And, without further ado, here is this week's FBFF. As a side note, we don't really take vacations in the summer. Due to my husband's job, we just don't have time to take trips in the summer. The Munchkin and I will be spending some time visiting my family, but family vacations don't happen until the late fall around here. :)

Now that summer is in full swing here… and vacations are coming up, let’s talk about what you’re packing to take on vacation.

1.      When it comes to packing for vacation what’s your mantra? I don't really have one, I guess. I really want to be prepared for everything with as little stuff as possible. I hate overpacking and having too much junk, so I try to keep things pretty streamlined while still having everything we need.

2.      What are your must packs? wet wipes, I never leave the house without wet wipes - I have a toddler, books, pony tail holders, cause there is little more annoying than being hot and not being able to put my hair up, more books, toys for the munchkin and his blanket.

3.      What are you happy to leave behind? laundry and house cleaning

4.      Any packing secrets that help you get everything into one suitcase? Not really, just pack what you need and keep it simple.

5.      Beach reading… what are you taking with you to read in the sand? No beach reading for me - I have a three year old, so I can't really take my eyes off of him. Now I will be reading whenever I get the chance - mysteries, romances, paranormal, even some youth fiction, pretty much whatever I can get my hands on. I love books. They make me happy.

Well, there you have it folks, probably the lamest FBFF post ever. Sorry about that. Anyway, if you want to see more answers, check out Modly Chic.

Great Shoes and Books

tee: walmart, skirt: cato, shoes: payless

I have had these shoes for about a million years, seriously. I bought them before we left to go to seminary and that was over ten years ago. They literally go with everything and are super comfy. I am also loving the turquoise with the red. What do you think?

So, I finished my book last night. It was pretty good. If you enjoy a good mystery/thriller with just a touch of the paranormal you should check it out. Wicked Lies by Lisa Jackson and Nancy Bush. I really enjoyed the book although there were some extraneous scenes that just didn't quite make sense. Anyway, it was pretty thrilling and I had a hard time putting it down. It is actually the second book in a series, the first is Wicked Game - also pretty good.

Before I go, can I just say how thrilled I am to be participating in the upcoming 30 for 30! I can't wait!

Beach Party!

tank & thongs: target, skirt: stein mart

Tonight's activities involved a 'beach party' at church. Needless to say, we live no where near the beach. Our beach party involved the gym, some decorations, and volleyball. I am not normally a fan of flip flops, but for a 'beach party' these were appropriate. Of course, if I were going to an actual beach party I would probably not wear a silk skirt. What I would actually wear isn't really appropriate for church, so this is what you get.

I just can't think of a whole lot else to say tonight, so I'm going to go read a book. A very good book. I'll tell you all about it when I'm finished.

Night, y'all.
